Hearing Aid Help Tinnitus-Medical Research Proves That Hearing Aids Can Help Tinnitus

Tinnitus, more commonly known as ringing in the ears, is the sensitivity of the sounds heard in the head when there are no external sounds nearby.  People will tinnitus have reported hearing different noises such a hissing sound, a whooshing sound, a roaring sound and a clicking sound.

One or both ears can be affected by tinnitus.  Tinnitus is often a symptom of hearing loss, or it can occur on its own without any hearing loss.  It is important to be tested for a hearing loss to assess if a hearing aid will help the tinnitus.

A brief period of tinnitus is quite common.  Just about all of us have experienced a sensation of a ringing or other sound in our ears for short periods of time.  For the majority of us, it goes away as quickly as it appeared.  However, some people suffer a maddening and continuous type of tinnitus and will need to seek medical treatment.

Tinnitus is not a disease.  It is usually a symptom of an underlying problem that could be either physical or psychological.  It is difficult to determine the exact cause of the tinnitus.  Head injuries, exposure to loud music, large doses of aspirin, ear wax and even stress can cause tinnitus. If an ear specialist can rule out these causes, a hearing aid may help tinnitus.

If a medical examination determines that the tinnitus is a symptom for an underlying loss of hearing, a hearing aid may help the tinnitus.  Many people do not seek medical help for their tinnitus because they think that their tinnitus cannot be treated which is incorrect.

Early detection of tinnitus will aid in diagnosing of more serious hearing loss conditions.  The majority of tinnitus patients report that the use of a hearing aid has improved their tinnitus and their quality of life.  They can sleep better at night and concentrate more during the day allowing them to enjoy life again.

Medical researchers and professionals report that hearing aids can help tinnitus.  The hearing aid will enhance the sounds they want to hear and reduce the annoying sounds they do not want to hear.  Since hearing aids are designed to amplify sounds, these louder sounds will lessen the tinnitus.

An open fit hearing aid is a new product that is especially helpful in treating individuals with tinnitus.  This hearing aid can lessen the ringing and buzzing symptoms at the same time that it amplifies the outside sounds ands transmits them into the ear.
